Is Practicing Yoga Permissible in Islam?

Q Yoga is believed to be one of the best ways to keep yourself physically and mentally healthy. Is it permissible to practice yoga in Islam? Click to know the answer

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.


In this fatwa:

1- If you are practicing yoga which has roots in theology of another religion, then it is better to avoid it.

2- But if you are doing yoga as a form of exercise like Pilates, without being attached to the indepth concepts of the practice of yoga, then it is permissible, there’s nothing wrong in that
