Ramadan Inspirations: With Another Hat-trick, Benzema Helps Madrid Thrash Barcelona in El Clasico

Once again, Real Madrid’s Muslim star Karim Benzema scored a spectacular hat-trick while observing the Ramadan fasting to help Real Madrid earn a stunning 4-0 win over Barcelona in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for Carlo Ancelotti’s team at Camp Nou. Benzema stole the show in the second half of the match. He scored in the 50th, 58th, and 80th minute to seal the win for Los Blancos.

Fans applauded the stunning performance of Benzema, calling him “Ramadan” Benzema after showing spectacular skills in the fasting month.

The round against Barcelona stood as Benzema’s second hat-trick in successive games after achieving another 7-minute hattrick in last Sunday’s match with Real Valladolid.

Religious Obligation

The 35-year-old French forward has previously spoken about taking part in the holy month of fasting.

“Ramadan is part of my life and my religion makes Ramadan an obligation,” he told Esquire last year.

“For me, it’s very important and I feel good when I’m fasting.”

While many praised Benzema for stunning performance in Ramadan, some criticized Nantes manager who dropped Jaouen Hadjam from the squad for refusing to break his Ramadan fast on matchday.
