86 People Take Shahada at Cambridge Mosque This Year

Indeed, (O’ Muhammad), you guide not whom you desire, but Allâh guides whom He wills. He knows perfectly well those who attain spiritual insight.” Qur’an (28:56)

As a great blessing from Allah, a total number of 86 people have taken shahada (or a declaration of Islamic faith) at Cambridge Central Mosque since the beginning of January this year.

“Alhamdulillah, in the past ten months 86 people have embraced Islam here at #CambridgeCentralMosque,” the mosque wrote on Twitter. “With two months to go before the year ends, we ask you to pray we reach 100 insha Allah!”

Cambridge Green Mosque

The UK’s first green mosque opened for the first time to worshippers in April 2019.

The mosque is designed to be naturally lit throughout the day and naturally ventilated, even at peak occupancy, while using a combination of green technologies, including rainwater harvesting, air-source heat pumps, and photovoltaics to minimize its carbon footprint.

The mosque, which can hold as much as 1,000 worshippers, is the first purpose-built mosque in Cambridge and is dedicated to the spiritual and social welfare of the city’s estimated six thousand Muslims.

In November 2019, the mosque won a national award for its design and contribution to the community.
