In this Fatwa:
- The Maliki scholars hold that Zakat al-Fitr is restricted only for the poor and the needy.
- The majority of scholars maintain that it can be given to all the 8 categories entitled to receive the general Zakah.
- The head of the household is responsible for paying Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of his dependents.
- You do not need to pay Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of an embryo.
