Why Help the Poor?
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that of the most rewarding actions in Islam is: aiding those in need, gladdening the heart of a Muslim, feeding the hungry, and helping the afflicted.
He, peace and blessings be upon him, also said:
“Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother.”
When we all do better, the world around us changes to the better. No one wants to live in a society where there are people living in poverty, struggling everyday to survive.
In this life, when we invest in those who have less than us, we bring our society up and create an environment where social justice and harmony is possible.
Many Muslim youths have a lot of spare time during summer and one of the best ways to make use of your time is to volunteer and help others, especially poor people.
