Answer
Short Answer:
- Of course, there are things we don’t understand but isn’t that the case in life? We don’t understand everything. So it is with Islam. I used to ask myself the same questions you ask until, after much reading, I came to see that Islam is perfect and that it has the answer to all of life’s questions.
- I came to understand, too, that if there is something I don’t quite understand in Islam, it is not because Islam is wrong, but it is because I haven’t yet understood!
- Little by little, Allah opens our eyes more and more to see more deeply the riches of Islam. This can only happen, though, if we, first of all, are prepared to trust in Him.
- Without the faith that comes from prayer, how could we possibly understand the mysteries of the Quran?

Wa Alaykum Assalam Dear Brother,
Thank you for your question and for contacting Ask About Islam.
My Logic Overcomes My Faith: How to Control That?
Islam is eminently sensible. It makes sense. One of the most important things as Muslims is to trust that common sense.
Of course, there are things we don’t understand but isn’t that the case in life? We don’t understand everything. Scientists, for example, cannot give us a scientific explanation for how a bee can fly. Yet the evidence is there before our eyes. We see it flying. How deep is the deepest ocean? We don’t know the answer to that question, yet it doesn’t keep us awake at night worrying until we find the answer.
No, there are some things we don’t understand. So it is with Islam. I used to ask myself the same questions you ask until, after much reading, I came to see that Islam is perfect and that it has the answer to all of life’s questions. I came to understand, too, that if there is something I don’t quite understand in Islam, it is not because Islam is wrong, but it is because I haven’t yet understood!
Islam as a Diamond
I like to think of Islam as a diamond, with so many facets, appealing to people in many different ways. Those who are attracted to science fall at once for the scientific miracles of the Quran and marvel at what sense they make. I am not a scientist, and I still don’t quite understand them. Show me, however, verses in the Quran that speak of Allah’s Greatness and I am filled with awe and wonder.
In other words, we need to step back and realise that the world doesn’t revolve around us, but that it revolves around Allah. Little by little, Allah opens our eyes more and more to see more deeply the riches of Islam.
This can only happen, though, if we, first of all, are prepared to trust in Him. Without the faith that comes from prayer, how could we possibly understand the mysteries of the Quran?
Marvel at Allah’s Bounties
It can be difficult to remain faithful to our daily prayers, and many Muslims feel periods of trial or at least of their prayers seeming very lukewarm. The only answer, though, is to stay with the prayers. Feed your faith with other things, too.
When was the last time you took a walk and marveled at the beauty of creation? When was the last time, if you are married, you marveled at the bond existing between you and your wife?
The answer to all our questions will come when Allah chooses it to. Islam may seem complex at times, but at such times it only shows just how little we understand. Ask Allah to open the eyes of your faith through prayer – and then see the difference it makes in your life.
And Allah knows best.
I hope this helps.
Salam and please keep in touch.
