The army of 3500 workers have participated in operations to disinfect, sterilize and perfume the Grand Mosque to welcome the reduced number of pilgrims chosen to perform the rituals this year, Gulf News reported.
Pilgrims already started arriving in Makkah on Friday and Saturday.

This year Hajj is like no other due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced Saudi govt to cut the number of pilgrims to only 1000 to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
Inside the Grand Mosque, the areas of the mataf have also been marked with clear signs to prevent overcrowding.
On the other hand, Makkah Municipality announced the readiness of its operational plan for this year’s Hajj in line with precautionary measures to protect pilgrims from contracting COVID-19.
According to Arab News, more than 13,500 cleaners with the latest equipment will work for 24 hours across the city and holy sites, particularly in crowded places and on peak days.
