Black US Muslims Celebrate Literature in #BlackMuslimReads

NEW YORK – As the US marks Black History Month this February, African American Muslims across the country are sharing their best reads as the hashtag #BlackMuslimReads went viral on Twitter.

The #BlackMuslimReads Book Giveaway was launched earlier this month by the NbA Muslims blog in partnership with Djarabi Kitabs Publishing and #MuslimGirlsRead.

“The giveaway will furnish 5 winners with a Fofky’s box full of assorted treats and a book from one of five invited Black Muslim authors,” NbA blog author Layla Abdullah-Poulos wrote.

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in US history.

Since 1976, every US president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
