These Muslim Schools Are Among the Best in UK

Eight Muslim faith schools have been recognized among the top 20 schools in Britain for academic progress in 2019, in the published GCSE league tables for 2019.

Topping the list was Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School in the northern town of Blackburn, followed by Eden Boy’s school in Birmingham and the Eden Girl’s School in neighboring Coventry.

Other Muslim schools on the list were Preston Muslim Girls’ High School, Eden Girls’ School in Waltham Forest, Eden Girls’ School in Slough, Bolton Muslim Girls’ School and Al-Hijrah School in Birmingham.

The list collated every year by the government ranks schools across the country on measures including academic attainment and the percentage of students who stay on for further education.

Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School (TIGHS)

•‘Progress 8’ Score of +2.17 – the highest value added score in the country.

•‘Attainment 8’ score of 7.0 – one of the highest scores in the country.

•83% of students achieved a ‘strong pass’ in English and Maths – one of the highest amongst non-selective schools.  93% achieved a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths.

•65% achieved the English Baccalaureate, around 45 percentage points higher than the national average. The average grade in English Baccalaureate subjects was 6.6.

•One of the best schools in the country for results by students from disadvantaged backgrounds and with low prior achievement from primary school.

•82% of students from disadvantaged backgrounds achieved a ‘strong pass’ in English and Maths. Nationally, around a quarter of students achieve this.

•50% of students with low prior achievement achieved a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths. Around one in ten such pupils achieve this nationally.

Eden Boy’s school in Birmingham

•The school achieved ‘Progress 8’ Score of +1.7 – the second highest value-added score in Britain.

•Government statistics showed that 86% of students at the school achieved a ‘strong pass’ in English and Maths – one of the highest amongst non-selective schools, while 98% achieved a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths.

•The school achieved exceptional first set of GCSE results since opening in 2015.

Eden Girl’s School in Coventry

•The school came as the top performing schools in Coventry and Warwickshire, according to GCSE results, released by the Department for Education.

•The school – which has an Outstanding Ofsted rating – has achieved the third highest score for academic progress in Britain in GCSE performance tables, with a Progress 8 Score of +1.61, which is well above average.”

Preston Muslim Girls’ High School (PMGHS)

•The school has achieved a ‘Progress 8’ Score of 1.23 – one of the highest value-added scores in the country

•The school is currently tenth out of 6,489 schools and colleges, including academies and selective schools

•82.1% of students achieved a pass in English and Maths

•81% were entered for the English Baccalaureate compared to the national average of 36.5%

Eden Girls’ School in Waltham Forest

•The school achieved ‘Progress 8’ Score of +1.2 – one of the highest value-added scores in the country.

•66% of students achieved a ‘strong pass’ in English and Maths – one of the highest amongst non-selective schools. 87% achieved a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths.

Eden Girls’ School in Slough

•Eden Girls’ School, Slough achieves ‘Progress 8’ Score of +1.19 – one of the highest value-added scores in the country.

•67% of students achieved a ‘strong pass’ in English and Maths – one of the highest amongst non-selective schools. 86% achieved a ‘standard pass’ in English and Maths.

•Exceptional first set of GCSE results since opening in 2015.
