Converted and Scared; Can I Pray In a Bathroom? (Video)

06 January, 2022
Q I'm a convert to Islam and I fear retribution, can I pray in the bathroom?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

1- Islam is flexible and prayer is important to a point where even when you don’t have clothes to cover your awrah, you have to pray.

2- The bathroom is not the ideal place to pray. So, if a convert could find a closet or find another place in the home to offer prayers, that’s fine. But if offering prayer in the bathroom really becomes your last resort, you can do so and may Allah the Almighty accept it from you.
