Q
If I perform hajj or umrah on behalf of someone else, will I get the same reward?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
In this fatwa:
- If you have not done Hajj or Umrah yet, you are not allowed to do it on behalf of someone else, you have to make it for yourself first.
- If you have performed Hajj already and you are performing it on behalf of someone else; then there are two opinions:
- You get the reward, plus the person you made Hajj for gets reward.
- Only those on whose behalf you are doing gets the reward, whereas you get the reward of helping them fulfill this act.
