Can We Use Prayer Beads While Making Dhikr? (Video)

Q Making dhikr (remembrance of Allah) is a highly recommended act of worship in Islam. It is permissible for Muslims to use prayer beads to make dhikr (remembrance of Allah)?

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

1- The Companions used to use date pits in order to keep track of their dhikr (remembrance of Allah).

2- If you are making adhkar that requires counting and if counting on fingers is confusing you or you are unable to keep track of those numbers properly, you are allowed to use prayer beads (misbah) or electronic devices.

3- Make sure you make an effort to count the adhkar after your prayer on your fingers as reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him).
