So, this is a, it’s a major topic, right, because there is excess in it and remissness. Excess when it comes to the Quran and science is to try to make the Quran fit whatever scientific theories are in vogue at any particular time, all right?
That’s excessiveness. Remissness is not to see what is clearly being indicated and being affirmed that [are] indicated by Allah (SWT) in the Quran. But we have to keep in mind that what is the purpose of the Quran.
The purpose of the Quran is guidance {Quoting in Arabic}, number one. Number two: the Quran views created phenomena not in so far as the interests of science. The Quran is not a book of science. It’s a Book of signs.
And there’s an important distinction. So, the sign is sought spiritually for its signification, for what it points to. {Quoting in Arabic} this is the creation of Allah. Science focuses on the sign as a phenomenon. And you see a sign and say, oh wow, this is an amazing sign, look.
And you describe the sign, you analyze the sign. You catalog the sign. But you don’t look at it insofar as its signification, that creation points to its Creator, right.
That is the, what is the purpose of Allah (SWT) telling us about the heavens and the earth and the night and the day and the stars and the oceans and the lands and all and the wind’s and the birds in the sky and all these phenomena and the rain and vegetation.
All of these, the purpose in them is to see them as signs. …
