In recognition of his interfaith efforts, Muneeb Nasir, Chair of the Olive Tree Foundation, has received the National Muslim Christian Liaison Committee award for the year 2023.

The BMG (Berthrong, Muinnudin, Gregerson) Award, which Nasir received along with Shirley Trudeau, recognizes contributions to interfaith dialogue. 

“With gratitude, for many years of leadership, commitment, and service to the National Muslim Christian Liaison Committee and your many contributions to interfaith dialogue and cooperation,” the award read, Iqra.ca reported.

The announcement was welcomed on Facebook as many people congratulated Nasir on the deserved award.

“Congratulations my dearest brother Muneeb. You continue to be an inspiration to me and to many people of different faiths and goodwill as you continue all the good work you do for everyone Allah puts into your life,” Shirley Trudeau, a member of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto, wrote.

“I and my husband Dick continue to pray for good health for you,” she added.

“Congratulation. It is a well-deserved award. Thank you for your valuable contributions to interfaith dialogue movements,” Selda Sezen added.

Nasir is also the executive director of the Cordoba Centre for Civic Engagement and Leadership, and IQRA.ca managing editor.

Nasir Also used to work for years as AboutIslam correspondent in Canada.

The NMCLC brings representatives of Muslim and Christian organizations into a forum for respectful dialogue on themes of common interest and for the exchange of and response to faith-related concerns and areas of sensitivity between Muslims and Christians.

Founded in 1984, NMCLC has sponsored regular dialogue and learning events and collaborated on social issues.
