Saving Girls from House Fire, Mississauga City Honors Muslim Hero

“It’s not every day you meet a real life hero,” tweeted Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie as she recognized Adam Attalla’s heroism.

18-Year-old Attalla has been honored by the city of Mississauga for springing into action to save 3 young people from a home fire last month.

“Proud to join @derynrizzi, @MississaugaFES & Council to honor Adam Attalla for springing into action to save 3 young neighbors from their blazing home. Adam, you have shown #Mississauga what true heroism looks like. Thank you.”

Heroic Action

Last month, Attalla leapt into action to save his neighbor’s three girls after he saw his house on fire.

“There was a lot of smoke. So, the two girls came down, and the little girl was still stuck. I told people. Nobody did anything. So, I tried climbing up the wall first. It did not go out well.

“So, a neighbor led me into her house, and I jumped from her roof to the second roof, and I opened the window and got the little girl out,” he added.

Allah tells us that “If anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” Quran 5:32

What Attalla did falls in line with similar heroic acts done by some other Muslims.

In September 2021, a Muslim man in North Leigh, Oxfordshire, was praised for successfully saving his neighbors when fire started in their house.

Azz Mahmoud, a 37-year-old Muslim youth worker in Oldham, performed CPR for the first time ever to save a man’s life.
