Several cars were also decorated, and driven alongside the procession.
It comes after last year’s event was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.
Holy Days
The procession comes in the holy month of Muharram as Muslims prepare to mark Ashura.
For Muslims, `Ashura’ marks the day that Prophet Musa, peace be upon him, was saved from Egypt’s pharaoh.
Muslim scholars have agreed that it is good to fast on the day of `Ashura’, although it is not obligatory.
The Prophet’s birth falls on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal (the third month in the Islamic calendar). This year, it comes on October 18.
Many Muslims see the Prophet’s birthday as an important time to learn about and reflect on his life (PBUH).
Lectures and speeches are often recorded and published as podcasts.
Around the world, celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday include stalls selling Islamic books, leaflets, clothing, prayer mats, and other materials.
