MALIBU, California – A video posted by American hip-hop artist French Montana on Instagram showed Hollywood actor Vin Diesel praising the concept of Ramadan as “so powerful”.

Describing the discipline the month brings as a means of recharging and rehealing, he is also heard saying that “it will probably be good for anybody in life,” Ilmfeed reported on Monday, May 29.

The video was shared on Saturday, May 27, as Muslims worldwide marked the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

During the holy month, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling, abstain from food, drink, smoking and sex between dawn and sunset.

Muslims dedicate their time during the holy month to become closer to Allah through prayer, self-restraint and good deeds.

It is customary for Muslims to spend part of the days during Ramadan studying the Noble Qur’an.

Many men perform i`tikaf (spiritual retreat), spending the last 10 days of the month exclusively in the mosque.
