A celebrated Kashmiri singer, Reshi Sakeena, has officially bid farewell to her music career, citing her commitment to Islam.

The 25-year-old artist’s decision has stirred intense discussion online, with social media flooded with comparisons of her before-and-after photos, Aaj News reported.

Known for her vibrant attire and charismatic stage presence, Sakeena is now seen embracing hijab and burqa, symbolizing her new spiritual journey.

Sakeena’s announcement came via a heartfelt video where she appeared alongside a local scholar. In the video, she expressed her desire to repent and distance herself from her past life, drawing inspiration from her fear of God and the pursuit of a meaningful afterlife. The scholar confirmed her decision, which also included withdrawing from social media platforms.

The Bandipora native’s journey to stardom was anything but ordinary. Coming from a middle-class family, where her father was a poet, Sakeena faced numerous challenges, particularly after losing her mother. She left school after completing her matriculation to shoulder family responsibilities.

Despite these struggles, she found solace in music, transitioning from a martial arts athlete to a budding singer with big dreams.

Her musical talent quickly gained her popularity, especially at local weddings and events, where her performances were widely celebrated. However, her rapid rise was overshadowed by her decision to step away from the spotlight.
