When Is Your Ramadan?

CAIRO – As the holy fasting month of Ramadan knocks the doors, hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide are anticipating any news about the start of the fast.

While some countries have already announced the beginning of Ramadan according to calculations, others are awaiting the moon sighting.

According to the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), Muslims in Europe start Ramadan fasting on Monday, June 6, according to astronomical calculations.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) said that Ramadan would begin on Monday, June 6, in North America.

In Ramadan, adult Muslims, save the sick and those traveling, abstain from food, drink, smoking and sex between dawn and sunset.
