Two Prayers

A separate prayer gathering will also be held at Edgbaston Stadium, as happened last year, officials later confirmed.

“`Eid Al-Fitr is one of the two major annual celebrations for the Muslim community, where we come together to celebrate the end of Ramadan, after a whole month of fasting,” Mohammed Saeed, Chair of Trustees at Green Lane Masjid and Community Centre said.

“Eid is a time for the community to worship together, be thankful and spend time with family.”

Marking the end of Ramadan fasting, `Eid Al-Fitr is one the two main Islamic religious festivals along with `Eid Al-Adha.

After special prayers to mark the day, festivities and merriment start with visits to the homes of friends and relatives.
