Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” Sahih al-Bukhari 5027
To get the high rewards of teaching Qur’an, a local Islamic charity in Preston said they would transfer a landmark pub to become Islamic education center for blind youngsters.
The Al-Qalam Tarbiyah charity will use the Acregate Hotel, in New Hall Lane, to open the building as an ‘Able To Learn Centre’.
The new center will provide youngsters, particularly blind children, a chance to study the Qur’an.

“In the Muslim faith every child learns to read the Quran in Arabic generally at Arabic classes held every weekday evening between 5pm and 7pm,” says a report cited by Lancashire Post.
“It is extremely rare to find an able-bodied Muslim child not attending Arabic classes from the age of five until early adulthood.
“Although the ill and disabled are excused from practicing some aspects of the religion which they are unable to due to their disability, accepting this position would deprive a person from practicing their beliefs because of a disability – a situation which in a developed society is no longer considered acceptable.”
Helping Visually Impaired Kids
The idea for an Able To Learn center came from concerns expressed by the father about a lack of facilities in Preston where his blind son could learn the Qur’an.
To put the idea into practice, a local Muslim scholar consulted a friend who runs a blind school in Africa on how to give the Qur’an lessons in Preston using braille.
The A-Qalam Tarbiyah charity says it plans to open the center during the day (10am-4pm) for just two students and one teacher and also run evening classes between 4.15pm and 7.15pm for up to 15 students and two teachers.
Memorizing the Holy Qur’an is one of the most important ways to preserve Allah’s message.
The others are to publish and distribute the book, or the text on the Internet and to recite the parts that one knows to other people.
