Manchester City’s winger Riyad Mahrez has joined a growing list of high-profile footballers who have shown support for the Palestinians, carrying a Palestine flag in celebrating the EPL title.
As the season came to an end Sunday, Mahrez waved the flag at the Etihad stadium following City’s 5-0 rout of Everton, Irish Times reported.
Soccer players from Leicester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Manchester City have shown similar support by raising a Palestinian flag.
On May 10, Leicester City stars Hamza Choudhury and Wesley Fofana held a Palestinian flag as their team celebrated winning the FA Cup.
Later on May 17, Manchester United players Paul Pogba and Amad Diallo also joined the list by displaying a flag at the end of their game with Fulham.
Mahrez has also shown support for Palestinians on Twitter earlier this month.
Mahrez move has been widely praised by fans on social media.
