Abuse is the deliberate act of causing physical or mental suffering of one’s spouse.

This can make an abused spouse feel:

• Worthless

• Ashamed and withdrawn

• Anxious – especially in the presence of the abuser‎

• Lacking self-confidence

• Fearful about the future

• Helpless

Test yourself by answering the following questions. The more “yes” answers, the more likely it is that You’ve been abusive to your partner.

7- Do you limit your spouse’s access to money, the phone, or the car?

8- Do you prevent your spouse from visiting their relatives?

       Yes – No

9- Do you criticize your spouse constantly and make them feel bad about themselves?

      Yes – No

10- Do you ignore or put down your spouse’s opinions or accomplishments?

      Yes – No
