Q Mahr is an important aspect of marriage. Can the wife excuse the husband from paying the mahr (dowry)?

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

In this fatwa:

1- Mahr (dowry) is a right that a husband has to give to his wife.

2- The wife has the right to excuse her husband from paying the mahr  as long as she is not forced to do so.
