How Did the UN Define and Develop Human Rights?
Human Rights as advocated by the UN are based on experiences gained over time. The mandate is arrived at as a consensus among individuals and social activists all across the globe. However, such a mandate, realized and postulated as Articles, is not free from the influence of Liberal Thinkers, primarily from the US, participating with an overwhelming majority.
Some of the articles of Human Rights are explicit, while others are simply implied and limited to the extent of merely expressing the intentions of a government. They are more about the nature of guidelines rather than explicitly commanding to submit. However, they are still wider in scope and connotations to address basic Human Needs, Expectations, and Aspirations realized over time.
Why Do UN Human Rights Evolve With Changing Human Needs?
As human needs are always expanding, and thus the requisite need to update the mandate cannot be overruled. Some are too basic and so representative of primitive societies of prehistoric eras, like freedom, liberty, social justice, etc., while others are heuristic elements realized due to the progress of civilizations over time and space, like economic needs of leisure, working hours, etc.
What Role Does the State Play in Protecting Human Rights?
The UN considers the State to be an agent powerful enough to address such Human Rights and perhaps the most competent partner to work with. The reason may be, as others consider too, that the State is all-sovereign and thus powerful enough to implement and invoke any needs through laws and enactments.
What Is the Divine Origin of Human Rights in Islam?
Islam is the divine religion beginning with the first man, Adam (peace be upon him). Being originated out of a common father, all men and women are bonded with the bond of kinship and thus far more closely associated than to be regarded as links of humanity.
Islam is the first of all religions presented with the very first man, Adam (peace be upon him). Nothing changed over time, as Islam Original from its beginning remains unchanged. It is thus all-comprehensive to address primary needs and expectations of Men of all ages, expressed through its divine Mandates explicitly defined for Human Rights.
How Does Islam Address New and Future Human Needs?
It appreciates considerations due for the exclusive primary needs of man, as well as allowing space to accommodate (through its guidelines) new needs and aspirations arising out of progress in civilizations over time.
The Islamic Mandates of Human Rights are too basic and thus limited to select primary needs explicitly defined. For other futuristic needs arising over time, the verses of the holy Qur’an shall ever remain as a source of eternal guidelines and pathfinder.
