Nantes’ Muslim Player Dropped from Game for Refusing to Wear Pro-LGBT Jersey

Nantes’ Egyptian striker, Mostafa Mohamed, has been excluded from the squad for the match against Monaco, scheduled for today, Sunday, due to his refusal to wear a jersey supporting LGBTQ+ rights, citing his religious beliefs as a Muslim.

The French league had dedicated this matchday to promote its initiative against homophobia.

This is not the first instance of Mohamed facing consequences for this stance; a similar incident occurred last year when he refused to wear the LGBTQ+ themed jersey against Toulouse and was fined, Goal.com reported.
