The Koutoubia Masjid is one of the most emblematic buildings in Marrakech.
Did you know that it is one of the oldest mosques in Morocco and can accommodate 25 000 worshipers at a time?
Built in traditional Almohadi style in the 12th century. Koutubia means “booksellers” in Arabic, as the area was known for selling manuscripts.
It is among the World Heritage Sites of Unesco. In recent videos about the earthquake, we could see it shaking, but it remained intact.
