The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) , together with the London Muslim Mosque , have called on the Ontario government to implement several measures to help curb Islamophobia.
The calls, made Monday, come as Canada grapples with the aftermath of June’s Islamophobic terrorist attack which left four members of one family dead in London, Ontario.
As part of the recommendations that followed the heinous attack, NCCM is calling on the government of Ontario to introduce and pass the “Our London Family Act”.

“We don’t want to hold another vigil as a community,” Imam Aarij Anwerof the London Muslim Mosque said, The Toronto Star reported.
“We don’t want to have another community funeral where we’re all grieving, we don’t want to lose any more lives to hate or Islamophobia.”
Nadia Hasan, the chief operating officer of the National Council of Canadian Muslims, said the new measures should include changes to the educational system so children can better understand Islamophobia.
“We also need to see the dismantling of white supremacist groups in the province by preventing them from registering as societies,” Hasan said.
“Our call is simple: no more violence,” Hasan said. “Our communities cannot wait until after the election for change, we are calling on all of our leaders – let’s work together to make change.”
