For the first three years of prophethood, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did not preach to the masses. He only preached to the ones he trusted in his inner circle. He did not preach to the Quraysh, the visitors to Makkah and even some members of his own family because he knew they would not accept. The first three years were preparing the Muslims for the religious persecution that was coming.
