What is the Qur’anic Concept of Islam?
Explanation: The Qur’anic concept of Islam is called Deen (Religion of Virtuous Living). The Deen commands sincere submission to God. It is living as the epitome of a Qur’anic personality, with the manifestation of virtuous principles in transactions, communication, `Ibadah (worship), etc.
What Does Sincere Submission to God Mean?
Please explain the concept of “Submitting sincerely” as applicable to common people.
Explanation: Submission of self can better be understood as living wholeheartedly in agreement with the words of God presented through revelations. They include all about accepting Revealed Scriptures as Books of Wisdom—the books that are all-comprehensive and self-contained, with principles indispensable to success in the life-after.
To learn about the words of God, it is preferable to refer to the original text as preserved in the holy book of the Qur’an. It is living virtuously, with no to evils of any sort.
Can we, as ordinary persons, comprehend the words of God in totality?
Explanation: The words of God are elements of Wisdom. The Words of God as elements of Beliefs are all about realities of the Hereafter beyond perceptions. They closely resemble an Apriori Synthetic Class. They are a Specialty Knowledge Class within the broad Knowledge Block of Apriori Synthetic Knowledge.
However, even being Specialty Apriori Knowledge, they can be inferred with the aid of the Heart and Mind working in coordination. Such inferable knowledge thus needs not to be verified so as to establish its Truth or Validity. They remain a challenge for men with common sense either to accept or deny.
They are words of wisdom. Being elements of wisdom, men are bound to face consequences for their response, expressed as an attitude, and thus are made solely accountable for the most serious outcomes of acceptance or denial.
The realities are far from our perceptions and not accessible with precision. Hence, they are described in terms of allegory and simile to make them understandable in parts, which are essentially incomprehensible in totality. The examples include real objects of Paradise, Hell, Resurrection, etc., as well as non-material entities of Piety, Sincerity, Chastity, Purity of Intentions, and likewise.
How the Qur’an Speaks to Every Level of Understanding
Qur’an is the book containing and composed of meanings and connotations for men of the highest caliber and challenging knowledge base, of superior intellects of any time and place. Explain.
Explanation: As self-introduced by the Qur’an itself, it is the book with the simplest style and unequivocal contents and connotations and thus is meant exclusively for commoners. In other words, the mode of communication of such plain texts of wisdom is meant to attract all men and women blessed with common sense.
{This [should be] a clear lesson unto all men, and a guidance and an admonition unto the God-conscious.} (Aal `Imran 3:138)
The laureates and intellectuals of any time and place are, in essence, men endowed with common sense and so expected to appreciate the very same, like their fellow human beings belonging to the community of humankind.
What Is the Status of Hadith?
What is the Sanctity and Sacred Status of Hadith (traditions) defined in parlance to the Qur’anic Deen of Islam?
Explanation: Islam is not a new religion. It is the religion blessed with the first man, Adam (peace be upon him), to be concluded with the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Islam, with a bouquet containing beliefs and principles as manifest in beliefs in actions, is extended as blessings to humanity. They are meant for holistic personality development for people of any age and time.
The prophets and messengers of their times were first targets to uphold the belief principles and subsequently to manifest beliefs through actions and behavior.
The model practice of prophets preserved in the Qur’an remains a source of inspiration for individuals on the path to a wholesome personality.
The Hadith (traditions) are human records of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and their truth and sanctity need to be established on the basis of their degree of correspondence with the words of the Omniscient in the Book of Wisdom.
There is no distinction among prophets. No superiority of one prophet to another.
{“Say: ‘We believe in God, and in that which has been bestowed from on high upon us, and that which has been bestowed upon Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and their descendants, and that which has been vouchsafed to Moses and Jesus; and that which has been vouchsafed to all the [other] prophets by their Sustainer: we make no distinction between any of them. And it is unto Him that we surrender ourselves.’} (Al-Baqarah 2:136)
The traditions (Hadith) are assigned to be true to the extent that human anecdotes match the annals of the Prophets revealed in the Qur’an.
