Answer
Wa alaikum Assalam,
Thank you for sending in your question to our website.
The believers who are admitted into Paradise, or Jannah, will enjoy eternal and varied rewards from Allah, including positive and pleasing conversations with each other.
Basically, their conversations and dialogues in Paradise can be broadly divided into three categories: the ones that they have with each other, the ones that they will have with angels, and lastly, the ones that they will have with the people of the Hell Fire.
There is evidence in the Qur’an for all three kinds of dialogues.
This indicates that Paradise will be a place where conversation will be free and uninhibited i.e. dwellers will not be afraid to speak, nor will they need to seek Allah’s permission to do so.
However, as you mentioned in your question, their speech and conversation will be utterly free from any kind of sinful aspects, such as backbiting, arguing, cursing, slandering, swearing, or lying.
Also, the hearts of the dwellers of Paradise will harbor no negative feelings or emotions, such as hatred, envy, rancor, or ill will towards others.
In addition, Allah says in the Qur’an, that the dwellers of Paradise “will have whatever they desire”. This includes talking, laughing, and cracking good jokes.
If someone will desire to have a baby or small child to play with, they will have one. If they want to sing songs, they will be able to. If they desire to have a pet animal, they will get one.
If they wish to recite the Qur’an (i.e. any verse of it, including the bad words uttered by Pharaoh) or to listen to its recitation, they will be able to do so.
As for your question about whether the dwellers of Paradise will be able to talk about the history of the world, the answer to that is: yes. The dwellers of Paradise will be able to recall the events that took place in the life of this world, and to discuss them.
The evidence to that is in verses 37:50-53 in the Qur’an. However, discussing these painful or traumatic past events will have no negative consequences upon them. And they will not be backbiting, arguing, cursing, slandering, swearing, or lying about these events, as these are kinds of sinful talk.
One thing to keep in mind, always, is that the dwellers of Paradise will be able to have, or to do, whatever they wish, including the kinds of pleasures that they desired to enjoy in the life of this world, but which Allah had forbidden.
The only difference is that there will be no negative experiences or consequences of those pleasures. Allah will remove all these negative aspects of entertainment that existed in the life of this world, for the dwellers of Paradise in the Hereafter.
For example, the alcohol that they drink will have no intoxicating effect; the food that they eat will result in no smelly bodily excreta or disease; the sex that they have with their spouses and hoors will result in no negative feelings, mixing of lineages, or pregnancies; and the talk that they engage in will lead to no fighting, hurt feelings, or spoiling of relationships.
Allah knows best. I hope that this answers your question.
Salam. Please stay in touch.
