Two sisters from Gaza have been named Middle East regional winners of The Earth Prize 2026 for developing an initiative that transforms rubble into sustainable building materials.

Tala and Farah Mousa won the regional award for their project, “Build Hope – Palestine,” which recycles debris into eco-friendly building blocks, The Earth Prize reported.

The initiative also aims to empower young people through community workshops, combining environmental innovation with youth engagement.

Their project highlights how materials left behind by destruction can be repurposed into sustainable building solutions while involving young people in the process.

Through “Build Hope – Palestine,” the sisters are using recycling and community participation as part of an approach to sustainable rebuilding.
