Hundreds of Muslims from Chicago and neighboring cities gathered on Monday to attend the funeral of the 6-year-old Muslim boy who was murdered in a hate crime in Illinois.

 

Palestinian American boy Wadea al-Fayoume was stabbed 26 times by a 71-year-old landlord who was allegedly upset about the Israel-Hamas war.

Wadea’s mother, 32-year-old Hanaan Shahin, was seriously injured in the attack and was unable to attend her son’s funeral as she is still recovering in hospital, Chicago Sun Times reported.

The Mosque Foundation in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview was filled to overflowing, with some praying on the pavement outside.
