The event, hosted by Member of Provincial Parliament Kristyn Wong-Tam, celebrated individuals and organisations whose work has strengthened Toronto Centre’s civic and social fabric.

Ibrahim has deeply rooted her leadership in her longstanding work at the Centre for Learning & Development (CL&D), where she has advanced programs that support newcomers, women, and youth.

She is also a founding member of Mothers of Peace Regent Park, a community-driven initiative focused on fostering peace, healing, and resilience among families impacted by trauma or violence.

“Sureya’s leadership never goes unnoticed by her neighbours or by us at CL&D!” the organization stated, reflecting the respect she commands both within the institution and across the neighbourhood she has long served.

Sureya Ibrahim’s receipt of the King Charles III Medal stands as a testament not only to her individual contributions but also to the strength of community-led leadership.

Her example continues to inspire new generations of residents to engage, advocate, and build stronger, more equitable neighbourhoods.
