Special Time for Unity
Ramadan is the ninth month in the Hijri calendar. It is the month during which virtuous and devout populaces of Islam fast from Suhur at sunrise to Iftar at sunset.
It begins at the sighting of the new crescent moon – expected to be on March 10 — and will continue until sundown on April 9.
“It’s inspiring to see our community come together, transcending differences to foster understanding and unity,” noted Imam Muhammad Qatanani of the Islamic Center of Passaic County.
“As American Muslims, we carry the responsibility to promote peace and justice, bridging divides and supporting those in need. Let’s continue to serve our neighbors and pray for peace, welcoming all to join us in our mosques and centers. May Allah bless our efforts and bring peace to our nation.”
During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drink, smoking, and other physical needs during daylight hours, focusing on spiritual growth, self-discipline, and charitable acts. It is a time for self-reflection, seeking forgiveness, and strengthening one’s relationship with Allah.
