CAIRO – American actress Lindsay Lohan who was photographed carrying a copy of the Qur’an last year has confirmed that she is studying the religion, showing a newly found passion for Islam and meditation.
“I’m a very spiritual person and I’m really open to learning,” Lohan told The Sun.
“America has portrayed holding a Koran in such a different way to what it actually is.
“We all believe in something and at the end of the day it all ties to a god or a spiritual adviser.”
Lohan was photographed holding a copy of the Noble Qur’an last May, after her first day of community service in Brooklyn, New York, sparking rumors about her beliefs.
“I’m not done reading it. Do you know how long that would take? It takes so long,” she said.
Earlier in 2015, Lindsay posted on Instagram an image quoting the Qur’an but later deleted it.
Lindsay isn’t alone in her change of beliefs as her little sister Ali Lohan has turned to Buddhism.
“We all have a similar belief in whatever it may be personally,” she said.
“My sister is Buddhist but she is still interested in learning other things from me. It’s good to be open-minded.”
The 29-year-old star has shown interest in other faiths since her early age.
Raised as a Catholic, she wore a Kabbalah red string bracelet, which wards off misfortune brought about by the ‘evil eye’, during her teen years.
In 2012, she reportedly joined Courtney Love’s Buddhist chanting group.
The fluctuations in her beliefs were reflected before in a docu-series with Oprah Winfrey in which Lindsay described herself as a ‘very spiritual person’.
The Qur’an is the Word of Allah. It is the most sacred book. Muslims must respect this book and must honor it.
There is only one Qur’an which is in Arabic, with many of its translations in several languages.
There could be multiple translations by different authors in the same language such as English.
The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) through the archangel Gabriel who helped the Prophet memorize the Qur’an, as reported in several authentic Hadith narrations.
For one reciting the Qur’an, that he/she should approach Allah’s Book with the best of manners, humility and respect.
