Taking on a grueling walk to Mount Snowdon to raise fund for a local mosque in Blackburn, a group of fifty volunteers from ‘Team Buraq’ have received a hero’s welcome with huge cheers and fireworks.
The team have been raising thousands for the new Islamic Education Centre just off Davenport Road in the town.

“It is not easy asking people to take part in sponsored walks and challenges but we are inspired by how people are coming to help our cause over and over again,” one of the volunteers, Ibrahim Tabassam, told Lancashire Telegraph.
“These fundraising efforts have brought people together and it was a wonderful to see people giving up their free time to help again.”
As one of the youngest volunteers, Tabassam, 18, had raised £6,265. In total more than £60,000 was pledged to fundraisers.
Team Buraq was formed three years to help lead the fundraising of the new Islamic Education Centre. The new mosque will serve Muslim worshippers in the city. It will also include an Islamic school and other facilities.

Volunteers hope to raise the final amount in the coming year before the mosque finally opens.
“We are still fundraising and still behind our eventual target and we will keep going,” said Tabassam, one of the co-founders of the group.
“But it has been a great achievement all involved and evey one who is part of Team Buraq deserves huge credit for their efforts.”
Two years ago, a group of 25 cyclists were given a special welcome after they successfully raised more than £50,000 funding needed for the same Islamic center.
This is not the first time for Muslim bikers to take similar adventures.
In 2019, a group of eight bikers made a record 879 kilometers in six days from Melbourne to Sidney to raise fund for refugees.
