Queens Park Rangers Helps Muslim Players, Staff Flourish

An English football club has been widely praised for providing prayer mats for its Muslim players and staff, thus showing respect to their faith and helping them flourish.

“QPR have again led the way in supporting their Muslim players and staff flourish and fulfil their potential,” Ebadur Rahman, founder and CEO of Nujum Sports, said following the arrival of the prayer mats, Queens Park Rangers website reported.

“When these players go into work now, they will have their own dedicated prayer mats with the club’s name on it.

Queens Park Rangers Helps Muslim Players, Staff Flourish - About Islam

A Muslim athletes charter was launched by Nujum Sports in June, 2021, to “challenge organizations” to make progress in supporting Muslim sportsmen and women.

The charter includes 10 points such as non-consumption of alcohol, including during celebrations, the provision of appropriate places to pray, halal food, and being allowed to fast in Ramadan.

“The prayer mats have been extremely well received by our players and staff at Heston, and demonstrate the club’s continued commitment to the Charter,” Alex Carroll, QPR’s academy director, said.

“Given the busy nature of our first team and academy schedules, it is important we do everything we can to provide a private and comfortable environment at our training ground for staff and players to practice their faith.

“We would like to thank Nujum Sports for their continued support of our Muslim players and staff.”
