Indian Mosque Claims To Have World Largest Qur’an

CAIRO – The Jama Masjid in Vadodara in the western Indian state of Gujarat has revealed that it has the biggest copy of the holy Qur’an in the world.

The famous mosque, associated with cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan, has claimed of having the biggest elaboration of the holy text, Hindustan Times reported.

According to the mosque officials, the length and breadth of this Qur’an is 75 inch and 41 inch respectively.

The ink used in the texts is made up of Kohl and peacock’s feather while the border of the Qur’an is elaborated with a gold coating.

The cover of the religious text was made of malachite and semi-precious stones and is encrusted with phyanite, jade, gold and silver leaf.

Another roll-shaped longest Qur’an in the world, which 208 meters long, 1.14 meters wide, and is weighing 86 kilograms; is in China.

The owner of the longest Qur’an copy is Yusuf Xujun, who wrote it with his family in two years and a half and exhibited it in Turkey in 2012.

In August 2014, a hand-painted torn page of the Muslims’ holy book of the Qur’an was sold for $68,000 in a Sydney auction.

The Qur’an is a revelation from God, the creator of the worlds, so He is the original author.

There is only one Qur’an which is in Arabic and many translations of the Qur’an in several languages.

There could be multiple translations by different authors in the same language such as English.

The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the archangel Gabriel who used to make the Prophet memorize the Qur’an and made him revise it every year in the month of Ramadan, the fasting month.
