Pakoras, samosas, pastries, rice… There are so many tasty and delicious foods prepared for iftar and it’s easy to overindulge. But Allah does not like excess, for in His wisdom he knows that there is never any benefit in excess.
If you overload your digestive system, you are using precious energy to process all those fats and sugars. Eating lighter, healthier foods will use less energy and thus will sustain you for much longer during your fast.
With iftar, if you gorge yourself on heavy foods and sugary drinks you won’t be able to pray tarawih comfortably…not to mention the excess gas. So, respect the fast and don’t be greedy!
