Dealing with Racism

Racism is an ideology that someone is superior to another for skin colour, language and geography. This is not a new phenomenon, Iblis was racist when Allah created Adam and he thought he was superior as he was made of fire.

Racism manifests in words and actions and how we act around people. We need to stop the bad words and racial slurs. We need to stop acting this way towards other people. We are all one. We need to humble ourselves to other nationalities.

Racism is also institutionalized. We don’t accept imams or scholars with darker skins. We believe those with whiter skins are more beautiful. This attitude has to stop within our own communities and cultures. Racism is a disease and we need to deal with it at all different levels.
