Today after a woman gets divorced there is a misconception that she can never get married again. This is the practice of jahaliyyah. This is not Islam. The majority of women the Prophet (saw) married were widows or divorcees. He showed us it is halal to marry again after a death of a spouse or divorce.
Our deen is not based on culture. If our Prophet (saw) said it is halal then it is permissible.
