Can a woman propose to a man in Islam? Traditionally a man proposes to a woman and this is common across all cultures. In some cultures women do get down on one knee and pop the question. But what about in Islam, can our sisters propose to the man they wish to marry? 

There are a number of evidences from the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that prove that it is permissible from the rulings that  a woman can propse to a righteous man. 

There are evidences that this happened in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and also in the Quran. It is allowed from a ruling perspective. But be careful, it is not always wise. It depends on the situation.
