Haram or halal?

Wa `alaykum as-salamu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Thank you for your good question.

What is meant by “halal” food is healthy, permissible food. So, a Muslim could eat healthy vegetables and halal meat. Halal meat is very common and available in Canada; many stores, restaurants, and markets have and sell Halal meat.

In addition to Halal certified meat, a Muslim could eat permissible meat slaughtered by the people of the Book as the Qur’an says, “Made lawful to you this day are At-Tayyibat [all kinds of Halal (lawful) foods, which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, etc., milk products, vegetables and fruits, etc.). The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals, etc.) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them.} (Al-Ma’idah 5:5)

For the second part of your question, Islam, of course, forbids bad morals and acts such as cheating, theft, abuse, racism, etc. You may read a book on Islamic Morals for more details.

May Allah accept your and our good deeds, ameen.

Allah Almighty knows best.
