In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving
All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad.
Thank you for your question. You have some worries about your belief which sounds good. You need to develop your sense of God-consciousness and avoid all sins as much as possible by putting all trust in Allah and seeking His help and support sincerely.
Delaying prayer after its due time without having a valid excuse is a major sin. Similarly, listening to Music is a sin. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said “From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful” (Al-Bukhari) and as such many scholars argue that all musical instruments are haram.
Moreover, listening to songs including all kinds of music – as referred to in the question – is prohibited), both for men and women and whether they are in their houses or elsewhere, such as in cars or in public and private gatherings. Allah (Exalted be He) says, “And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, or the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).“
Almighty Allah knows best.
