I Ate a Haram(?) Ingredient, Should I Still Pray?

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad.

There is no reason for a Muslim to give up Salah. The hadith you might be referring to warns those who deliberately drink intoxicating drinks that their prayers will not be accepted for 40 days; nevertheless, they still have to pray the obligatory daily prayers or else they would be committing another major sin by neglecting them.

In your case, even if you are sure that the substance you consumed is haram, still you did not do it intentionally. It seems that the Satan seized this opportunity to take you away from the track by casting these doubts and misconceptions in your mind.

Brother, you have to continue praying immediately and to repent sincerely to Allah for neglecting prayers during this period.

Almighty Allah knows best.
