nail polish

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu waRahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving.

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Nail polish forms a layer over the nail, which prevents water from reaching this part during wudu’. Therefore, a woman has to remove it completely before making wudu’ as its existence renders wudu’ invalid. Accordingly, the salah performed with this wudu’ needs to be made up.

Removal here means to leave no trace for the polish at all, according to the majority of scholars. There is, however, another opinion adopted by a group of scholars that if the trace left after removal is very insignificant, the wudu’ is still valid.

So, based on this opinion, if the trace you have found is insignificant, you do not have to repeat the salah; otherwise, you have to make up that salah, even if the time has already passed.
Almighty Allah knows best.
