Do we need to recite a surah in its entirety after surah al fatIsha during salah?

Wa `alaykum as-salam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh

In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-giving

All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon His Prophet Muhammad.

First, let me congratulate you for your conversion to Islam and pray to Allah to keep you steadfast on His true path.

According to the majority of scholars, reciting a part of the Quran after surat al-Fatiha in Prayer is recommendable, not obligatory. This part does not have to be a complete surah. Few verses from any surah are enough.

According to a good number of scholars, one verse is even enough if it has a complete and independent meaning, such as the verse of al-kursi (Divine Seat).

Almighty Allah knows best.
