In the Name of Allah, the All-Merciful, the Mercy-Giving
All praise is due to Allah. Peace and blessings be upon his Messenger.
The Quranic injunction regarding fasting states:
“And you may eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunset” (Al-Baqarah 2:187), which explicitly permits eating and drinking until dawn time.
Zayd ibn Thabit reported: We ate Suhur meal with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and then went to [Fajr] Prayer. He was asked: How much time you had between them (i.e. Suhur meal and Fajr Prayer)? He said: “The time one takes to recite 50 verses.”
These and other evidences show that it is preferable to delay suhur meal to be shortly before Fajr Prayer.
Allah Almighty knows best.
