Monogamy is the ideal in Islam whereas polygamy is an exception to be resorted to in exceptional cases. Therefore, for you to assume that in Islam it is a man’s right to marry more than one wife and it is the destiny of woman to accept it whether she likes it or not is not true.

 

If, however, your husband has married someone because of concessions allowed in the Shari`ah, then you will be rewarded for your patience. You should pray to Allah to cure your heart of jealousy and ill-feeling towards his other wife.

However, at no time he is allowed to treat you unfairly; if he fails, then he is committing a grave sin.
